What is a 'server name', and do I have to assign one when I sign up for the account?

A server name is the name you give to your server, so that it has an identity on the network. You will need to assign a server name to your dedicated server order.

If you cannot think of a server name, then you should just name it after the main domain on your site. For instance, if you are using this server to host your business site "mybusinesssite.com", then you would make your server name "server.mybusinesssite.com".
